Both Round Robin and Flying Roll are very late this month. We are in constant difficulty about paper supply, and also have no clerical help. The Kareeta affair came up at the last moment, and it seemed to us that it should appear promptly. Excellent articles from Round Robin friends have had to go over to next issue. Our thanks to all of these contributors.

We omit our Variorum section: we had a little comment on The Bell Witch (a great mystery) - on Troll business in Colorado - on the Black Mass in Milan - the Ghost of Antigonish - Cries of Anguish from Readers. And under Ca et La there was something about Necrophilia in Turkey - Dr. Nandor Fodor's "Explanations" in Digest and Review - Notes on booklets and articles by Professor Ryan, "F.G.H.", Dr. Fodor, Vincent Gaddis, Dr. Haley, William G. Randall (attorney, investigator), and others. Acknowledgments of many publications received, and of excellent articles in them... We omit our page of book titles (for sale), and of special notices. Nearly all of this will appear at the earliest possible date.

NOTES UPON THE SIGILLUM DEI AEMETH
(The Sigillum of the God of Truth)

The Sigillum Dei AEmeth consists of a highly elaborate Pentacle, said to be a magical synthesis of ideas of a purely spiritual nature, with regard to Divine, Archangelic and Angelic Names concerned with the Celestial Spheres wherein operate the planets. The latter are but the Palaces or Thrones of the Forces depicted by the Sigillum. That his is so may be gathered from a statement uttered by the Archangel Michael in his communications to the scryers who were responsible for the recording of this system:

"When thou wilt have anything to do in the World,
in human affairs, seek: nothing in Sigillo AEmeth.
Enoch his book: is a Worldly book. Veritas in
Coelo, Image Veritatis, in terra momini, Imago
imagini respondet. Coelestia autem ............. §

In Ritual T it is mentioned that Irwin's manuscript gave certain names after the first 18 Keys. Lost of these names appear on the Heptagrams of the Sigillum.

Moreover, the Sigils attributed to the four Enochian Tablets:

receive their elucidation from this Sigillum, being resolved into the Names of the Four Great Overseer Angels of the Tablets.

The Heptarchia Mystica... touches a much lower plane than the Sigillum, the heavens of Assiah as it were, while the Sigillum soars to the worlds of Briah and Yetzirah. §§

One of the first important results of the ceremonial skrying of Sir Edward Kelly and Dr. John Dee was the obtaining and construction of the Sigillum Dei AEmeth... The word AEmeth = Tau-Mem-Aleph, and these reversed give us TH M A, which is the Name of Her who stands before the Face of the Gods in the Place of the Threshold. She is the Goddess of the Hall of the Dual Manifestation of Truth. Hence, this Sigillum Dei Aemeth is one especially under her guidance and presidency.

The Seal itself is a highly complex Pentacle, which Dee and Kelly were instructed to make of pure wax, about 27" in circumference. It bears what is, at first sight, a confused medley of heptagons and heptagrams thrown in juxtaposition with innumerable crosses, numbers, and letters, and a pentagram. It requires only a little attention to realize that this chaos is but a seeming one, tho a good deal of careful attention is necessary in order to disentangle the secret of its formation. For the whole ensemble is a brilliant and highly ingenious piece of synthesis, combining diverse ideas in which all the rules of acrostics, permutations and magical squares are alternately employed... Let it be remembered that the description which here follows is but a surface view of the whole, and that meditation will disclose many interesting and significant facts.

Around the extreme edge of the Seal's circumference is a series of numbers and letters. At the extreme top is 4 over T, and at the extreme bottom is og. The other letters and numbers follow in due rotation:

From these numbers the hieroglyphs or sigils which are attributed to the Enochian Tablets may be deciphered, as shown in Ritual X. They yield the Names of the Great Elemental Kings or Angel Overseers who keep guard over the Watch-towers. §

Within this circle of numbers and letters occur 7 Symbols with other letters and numbers. Giving them with their formal astrological significance and Enochian names they are as follows:

After these had been communicated, one of the communicating angels said significantly:

"Seven rest in Seven; and the Seven live by Seven. The Seven govern the Seven, and by Seven all government is."

In short, this Sigillum Dei AEmeth is essentially a synthetic glyph of the Septenary Forces of the planets, which it analyzes at great length and in much detail in each of its several planes .....

"Those Seven letters are the Seven Seats of the One and everlasting God. His Seven Secret Angels proceeding from every letter and Gross so formed; referred in substance to the Father; in form to the Sonne, and inwardly to the Holy Ghost. Look upon it. It is one of the Names   URIEL   which thou hast before, every letter containing an angel of brightness, comprehending the Seven Inward Powers of God, known to none but Himself. A sufficient bond to urge all creatures to Life or Death, or anything else contained in this world. It banishes the wicked, expelleth evil spirits, qualifieth the waters, strengthened the just, exalted the righteous, and destroyeth the wicked. He is One in Seven. He is Twice Three. He is Seven in the Whole. He is Almighty. His Name is Everlasting. His Truth cannot fail. His Glory is incomprehensible. Blessed be His Name. Blessed be Thou, O God, forever!"  §

The application of the Order teaching - Hebrew letters, Names, Geomantic symbols and sigils, and the colours - to the skeletal form of that Dee-Kelly scrying expands it into a much more coherent and workable system.

Continuing the description of the letters of the Seal, and working inward from the circumference to the center, we find next a double Heptagon, each facet of which is divided into seven compartments, each containing a letter. The point of this Heptagon is uppermost. From the diaries of Dr. Dee it would appear that these were dictated line by line and Kelly, his seer, would report that these Letters were manifested to his vision as baskets of letters by the great Archangel URIEL ....

(The letters of the 7 Baskets are put together in 7 lines in form of a square, called the Archangelic Square; the names of the Archangels are to be read from it. Under the Heptagon there are 7 sets of upper-case letters and figures

These comprise, according to the Angel, "Seven Names of God not Known to the angels, neither can they be spoken of or read by man. These Names bring forth 7 angels, Governors of the heavens next unto us. Every letter of the Angels' Names bringeth forth 7 Daughters. Every Daughter bringeth forth her Daughter; every daughter her daughter bringeth forth a son. Every Son hath this Son." On the circumference, 21=E, L=8, etc. This allows us to discover the Names, to which the Enochian pronunciation should he applied... From these an angelic Square is obtained... The further servient hierarchies are developed later... The whole is the beginning of a hierarchical system.     M.L.

(It is impossible to elucidate the Sigillum further without quoting the whole of the F.I.R. ms., we have no present authority to do. Enough has been said, perhaps, to render the nature of the Sigillum fairly intelligible. (M.L.)

"The Heptarchia Mystica continues the same magical theme by listing the 49 Angelorum Bonorum and their servient Ministers, who are under the governance of the angels whose Names are showns in the Heptagon of the sigillum... The invocations of these Angels are the contents of Liber Logaeth .. found in the 3rd section of this Addendum."
