Gentlemen:
My name is Joseph Marinelli. I live in Philadelphia, PA. I am 15 years old and I am a researcher on U.F.O.s. What I would like to know is some of B.S.R.A.'s orthodox theories about "UFOs", "Life on other planets", "Death", "Heredity" and so on.
1. Does the B.S.R.A. delve from the inner mind to the outer limits of theoretical Science and fact?
Ans: Yup, we sure do. We take up where science and fact leave off, Joseph; we push on into areas of consciousness where the inner mind is the only research tool for making quantitative and qualitative measurements of reality -- whatever that is.
2. How many members are there in the United States?
Ans: BSRA has over 500 members in the United States at present, and not quite 100 in foreign countries.
3. What kind of people join?
Ans: Mostly older people, Joe; but like you they are interested in what the inner mind might be, and in those areas of experience disdained by theoretical science -- Flying Saucers, for instance.
4. Does the B.S.R.A. think or know that there is life on Mars, Venus, Neptune, Alpha Centauri, Betelgeuse?
Ans: The only way we know anything is by direct experience, Joe. To my knowledge no member of BSRA has had direct, knowing contact with other intelligent beings on Mars or Venus or the stars you mention. Through Mark Probert and others we have had contact with intelligent beings who tell us there is intelligent life on other planets and stars. So we set this up as a working hypothesis for explaining the phenomenon of the Flying Saucers, some of them. The law of averages tells us that half the intelligent life in the universe is ahead of us in evolution, and half is behind us. The half that is ahead of us has mastered space travel by now. This is how we account for some of the Visitors seen in our skies. The problem is, they are so far ahead of us in evolution that communication between us is almost impossible. They aren't likely to have much sympathy or understanding for our problems, nor we theirs. The first big step for us to take is to know that there are intelligent beings on other planets and in space around our planet, only then may sympathetic communication be possible.
5. Who started the B.S.R.A.?
Ans: It was started in San Diego in 1945 by Mr. Meade Layne, a retired school teacher and parapsychologist. He became interested in Flying Saucers eight months before the newspaper reporters popularized the term on June 27, 1947. That was when Ken Arnold reported sighting nine discs flying an undulating course, in formation, in front of Mt. Rainier in Washington. Mr. Layne's attention was attracted to the Visitors when a winged, black, torpedo-shaped space ship flew over the city of San Diego on the night of Oct. 9, 1946. Mr. Layne didn't see it because his nose was probably buried in a book that night, but at least 30 other people did, including Mark Probert. This caused Mr. Layne to add Flying Saucers to the other borderland sciences: hypnosis, dowsing, telekinesis, telepathy, radionics, radiesthesia, and so on.
6. Do the Space Scientists call you crackpots about your incredible theories?
Ans: Some of them do, especially the older, early 20th Century scientists who cling to the orthodox theory that this is the inhabited planet in the universe. Younger space scientists are now beginning to realize that this limited, egocentric point of view is only an indication of our ignorance, rather than a true statement.
7. Are the U.F.O.s people see from outer Space or from an unknown country on Earth?
Ans: An analysis of the Saucer sightings in our files indicates that both Space and the surface of the Earth could be points of origin for Flying Saucers -- though it doesn't seem likely that any known nation on the surface is capable of building such advanced flying equipment. UFOs have been seen entering and leaving the surface of the ocean. Some have been seen operating under water. To us this indicates there are undersea UFO bases. This would be a logical place to locate them if the Visitors wanted us to remain ignorant of their presence. The continuing disappearance of ships, crews, and airplanes off the coast of Japan leads us to believe there may be an undersea base in the great trench there, for example.
8. If there are people on other planets do they have a Space Task Force near Earth?
Ans: Yes, Joe, we have been told, through Mark Probert and other Associates, that space around the earth is constantly patrolled for our benefit, to keep meddlesome invaders from adding to the troubles we already have! People who come into UFO research with orthodox religious ideas find it difficult to believe that anything but good could come from heaven! Once the hurdle of "inhabited space" is overcome then you have to grapple with the concept that the inhabitants are both good and evil, from our point of view. BSRA theory is that the good ones most directly concerned with our welfare, because they are most like us in appearance and closest to us in evolution, are from the etheric regions of Mars and Venus. They do not live on the physical surface of their planets as we live on the physical surface of the earth.
9. Is there a war going on between two great Space Powers out in Space?
Ans: Not only out in space but also in the earth's atmosphere, Joe, and perhaps in the interior of the earth, for all we know. Our ignorance of these matters is appalling! It is possible that the flaming fireballs seen blazing across earth skies in level flight, and eventually burning themselves up, are invaders "shot down" by the Guardians on patrol. The great Tunguska meteorite (so-called) of 1908 would be a good example of this. The flaming wreckage which crashed in a northern Siberian forest was seen and heard for hundreds of miles. More recently one of these aerial Visitors rocked western Australia when "a tremendous atmospheric explosion shook buildings in the Kimberley Mountains area" on Monday night, Aug. 19, 1963, according to an Associated Press story. "Observers said they saw a trail of smoke and a ball of brilliant orange flame and heard an explosion."
Another Invader was blown up over Madrid, Spain on the afternoon of Feb. 10, 1897. The force of the explosion cracked walls in buildings, shattered windows and scared hell out of the panicked Spaniards down below. A glowing cloud of debris hung over the city for five hours, but no earthling had an airplane to fly up there and take a closer look in 1897! And the ignorant Catholics down below probably thought it was the work of the Devil.
85 years earlier, ignorant and superstitious Frenchmen of Normandy had a chance to actually watch and hear a Space battle going on over their heads on the afternoon of April 26, 1812. Shell fragments from a gun duel between a "fiery globe" and a square cloud at tremendous height above the town of Laigle fell to earth in great numbers, with a hissing sound. Equally ignorant scientists of the time insisted that these fragments were meteorites, or aerolites. According to Jessup in "Case For the UFO": "A fiery globe of a very brilliant splendor, which moved in the air with a very great rapidity, was followed in a few seconds by a violent explosion which lasted five or six minutes and was heard for thirty leagues in all directions (a league is 4½ miles). Three or four reports like those of cannon were followed by a discharge resembling musketry fire, after which a dreadful rumbling was heard like the beating of a drum. The air was calm and the sky serene with the exception of a few clouds such as are frequently observed. The noise proceeded from a small cloud of rectangular form, the largest side being in a direction from east to west. It appeared motionless all the time the phenomenon lasted, but the vapor of which it was composed was projected momentarily from the different sides by the effect of the explosions. The cloud was about half a league to the northeast of Laigle, and was at so great an altitude that the inhabitants of two hamlets a league apart saw it directly overhead. A multitude of meteoric stones fell with a hissing sound."
THE SAWMILL RUN DROWNING
If we find it difficult to accept the testimony of excitable, superstitious Frenchmen and Spaniards, Joe, perhaps the evidence from Americans will be easier to believe. Again we have to go back into the 19th Century, but this is closer to home, your home in Philadelphia.
John P. Bessor sent this old, forgotten news item to "Fate Magazine" and it was published in the March 1954 issue: "On July 28th, 1874, the little community of Saw Mill Run, near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, met with disaster from a most singular phenomenon. Curious villagers and country folk looked at the sky and beheld something very strange. Over the northeastern horizon, slowly and majestically, sailed a black cloud ringed with a scarlet belt; and over the southwest horizon slowly sailed another black cloud -- with a scarlet belt.
"Onward they came towards each other, like two men-of-war approaching the scene of battle. As they drew nearer, they discharged flashes of lightning, and the whole effect was that of an eerie sea battle, high in the air. Nearer and nearer they drew, the violence of the flashes of lightning increasing the closer they approached, until, with one great flash, they collided, and rain fell in torrents. One hundred and fifty persons drowned and it is believed to be the most disastrous flood ever to befall that section of the country."
"ORGANIC" CLOUDS ARE STILL AROUND
The work of Morris K. Jessup is still tops in research on the Flying Saucer field, Joe. He realized that the controlled performance of "clouds" over Laigle, Normandy and Saw Mill Run, Pennsylvania was proof of an organizing intelligence within, and perhaps camouflage for a very solid, very real space ship. Once his open-minded "Case for the UFO" was before the public he began to receive reports of contemporary UFO sightings by qualified observes. By qualified observers, I mean people who make their living in the sky, as pilots, or by watching the sky, as Civil Aeronautics Administration tower operators or astronomers. Here is a good example from William S. Hunter of Los Angeles, California, written to Jessup in 1954 or 1955 and included in Jessup's "UFO Annual" for 1955.
"All the debunking the Air Force is capable of cannot shake my firm belief that UFO are created by intelligence. I am a control tower operator, a commercial pilot with 5000 hours of flying time, and meteorology is a hobby, so opportunities to study and observe unusual phenomenon of the atmosphere come almost daily. Your chapter on clouds and storms was very interesting and I would like to tell you about an unusual cloud I observed several years ago.
"One warm summer night in 1947, I was working the eight shift in the CAA control tower at Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The weather observer on duty was Bill Adams who is now controller in the CAA tower at Greensboro, N.C. The night was clear and the moon was full and high in the sky. About two-thirty in the morning Bill called for me to come out and see an unusual cloud approaching from the west. I went out on the catwalk around the tower to observe with him and was quite surprised at the sight I saw. The cloud was shaped like a football and the moon reflected off it making it look quite white. The amazing part about the cloud was the intense lightning projecting from the cloud in all directions. The lighting wasn't reaching the ground or any other cloud as it was the only cloud in the sky. Violent thunder was rocking the ground. The cloud went across the airport in an easterly direction and as long as we could observe it the lightning [11] didn't stop. The surface wind was calm so apparently the wind at the cloud level was strong westerly as it moved rapidly along. We estimated the cloud to be about four thousand feet above the ground and two thousand feet long and one thousand feet thick. I have often thought about the above incident and thought perhaps you would be interested in hearing it. It wasn't just another cloud because one cloud alone can't generate streak lightning without another cloud or the ground to receive the discharge, yet this one did!"
Good as these examples are, Joe, of a war going on over our unsuspecting heads, they do not constitute evidence "for war between two great Space powers" as you ask; rather do they indicate conflict between races who natural home is the space between the earth and the moon!
WE BELONG TO EACH OTHER
Jessup came to this conclusion after examining available evidence and states it pretty clearly in "The Case for the UFO": "It is no longer necessary to explain the Visitors as coming from Mars, Venus, or Alpha Centauri; they are a part of our own immediately family, a part of the earth-moon binary system. They didn't have to come all those millions of miles from anywhere. They've been here for thousands of years. Whether we belong to them by possession, like cattle, or whether we belong to each other by common origin and association is an interesting problem, and one which may soon be settled if we keep our heads."
10. Is earth an advanced base for a planet fighting a Galactic war?
Ans: Yes, Joe, the evidence of certain UFO sightings and certain contacts with what appear to be extra-terrestrial beings indicates that the earth is rich in minerals and perhaps other substances which are useful, even necessary, to certain space travelers. Richard Shaver painted a colorful picture of space pirates coming here to plunder the Cavern world of precious electronic equipment left there by a long forgotten civilization. Other Visitors may be and probably are very curious but highly impersonal science expeditions, who ignore us unless we get in their way. A third type may be what we would call tourists, who merely stop to "gas up" before proceeding on their way.
Archaeologists and historians have found legends of such Visitors in all past civilizations. There is one legend in Hawaiian literature of the war between the Gods in the earth and the Gods of outer space. Until our own modern science -- and understanding -- progress to where we can intelligently communicate with these beings, we'll have to depend largely on legend to tell us where the great space war is going on and who is involved.
ORION, THE HUNTER
Three Western civilizations of the past, Greek, Hebrew, and Egyptian, agree that Orion, the constellation depicted as a mighty hunter, has always been a trouble-maker for the Milky Way galaxy. Williamson devotes a chapter to this problem in his book "Other Tongues - Other Flesh". There he reminds us that in Egypt of the Fifth Dynasty "the constellation of Orion was Sahu, hunting through the heavens for gods [12] and men to rip apart and boil for food. The Hebrews knew it was Kesil, the Foolish or Self-Confident, or as Gibbor the Giant, identified with Nimrod and tied to the heavens for impiety."
In Greek mythology the Pleiades flee before the murderous wrath of Orion. Now the Seven Sisters of the heavens, the Pleiades, have always been shown as sources of sweetness and Light, and the evil of Orion has had to be bound to allow Truth and the good to prevail in the universe.
In our own Bible, Amos refers to this space war between two Galactic powers in Chapter 5, Verses 8-9: "Seek Him that maketh the seven stars (the Pleiades) and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name: That strengtheneth the spoiled (the Pleiades) against the strong (Orion), so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress."
Job's space contacts also gave him information on the war between the Pleiades and Orion. As far as I am concerned, Job's "Voice of the Whirlwind" was a Flying Saucer and the cryptic remarks about a space war in Chapter 38 were all he dared give forth at that time. For him who has the "eyes of the spirit" opened, the Bible can be very informative indeed.
Through their space contacts on Aug. 23, 1952, Williamson and his Arizona group received more direct warnings: "The Orion solar systems are much like Saras (earth). The principles of good and evil are universal. We must tell you about Orion. Many there wish to conquer Universe. We are here to warn you of this also; however, we find few receptive persons on Saras. (Your earth) is the lowest in progression in the solar system, but there are planets in the Creation that are above you and below you in state of progression. There is no beginning or end . . . We must tell you that Orion is coming soon to Saras (earth) in a square star body. The year of decision is soon to come to you! . ."
THE TRUE MYSTERY OF EVIL
A whole generation earlier, in 1925, Alice Bailey devoted a few pages to the "war in heaven" in her massive work "A Treatise on Cosmic Fire". In the Section on "Thought and Fire Elementals", page 834, she writes of the decaying moons, planets and systems as being sources of trouble or evil.
". . . in connection with a system (solar, constellation or galaxy) there exist cosmically certain bodies in space which have as definite an effect upon the system as the moon has upon the earth. This is something as yet unknown and incomprehensible to metaphysicians, scientists and astronomers. War wages cosmically as yet between the systemic "lunar" lords, and those Entities who are analogous to the solar Lords on cosmic levels. . . Until the force of the cosmic lunar Lords is sought for, the fact of there being entire constellations beyond our solar system in process of disintegration in time and space in a manner similar to the disintegration of the moon will not be known nor the effects of this traced. Eventually, our solar system will pass into a [13] similar state. The true mystery of evil lies here, and the true reality of the War in Heaven must here be sought. Similarly it must be remembered that planetary schemes pass into obscuration and 'die out', through the withdrawal in all cases of the positive life and energy, and of the electric fire which is the animating principle of every system, scheme, globe, kingdom in nature, and human unit."
The positive energy is withdrawn from the decaying or dying system but what happens to the negative energy? This remains. It cannot rise to higher levels because not evolved enough. So the unevolved beings of an ancient, dying system -- still on the outward or downward arc of involution -- must find a new home.
RATS DESERTING A SINKING SHIP
This is the simplest and best simile we can think of, rats fleeing a doomed vessel. There is an even better one, termites crawling out of a burning log of wood! As Alice Bailey puts it, "This negative type of force gradually dissipates, or disperses itself. . . The spheroidal form is thus disintegrated. This can be seen working out now in the case of the moon, and the same rule holds good for all bodies. . ." Including, apparently, some sun in Orion and its accompanying planets, if not all of the constellation of Orion!
Alice Bailey continues (or the Master D.K.) on page 837: "Just as the moon is a deterrent or malefic force where the Earth is concerned, and productive of evil influences, so all such disintegrating bodies are equally destructive. Such bodies exist within the solar ring-pass-not, unrecognized as yet, and disintegrating constellations (of which there are many in the universe, unknown and unrecognized by scientists) have an equally malefic effect on our system, and upon all that passes into their sphere of influence.
"There is one such constellation, situated between the lesser Dipper and our system, and another, interrelated with the Pleiades and our system which still have a profound effect upon the physical body of the solar Logos. The above is specifically worded thus because the effects are felt in the lowest sheath of all, and are much that is ignorantly termed 'black magic'. These have run their cycles and are 'dissolving'. Some of and energy has been transferred to our solar system, life force was transferred to our earth, and this it cause of much cyclic evil. The process of decay and the evil emanations induced still have power to influence forms which are responsive to what was for them an earlier vibration. The substance of these forms is magnetically linked with the decaying body, much as the etheric double is connected with its dense sheath (the physical body), and the effects are therefore manifested. Purificatory fire is the only cure for this magnetic corruption, and this is being utilised freely by the planetary Logoi in Their schemes, and by the solar Logos in the system."
There, Mr. Joseph Marinelli, is spelled out the principle or working hypothesis by which we explain the war going on in outer space. Frankly, I don't think we'll ever see much physical evidence of it here on the surface of the earth. My faith in the Guardians of the earth is [14] such that I am sure most of the invaders are turned back or destroyed at the outer limits of the solar system, beyond Pluto. On the other hand, as Williamson indicates in "Other Tongues - Other Flesh", some of these troublemakers may have karmic connections with the earth, as members of some great, pre-glacial civilization which was cleared off at the time of a mammoth, world-wide catastrophe. We might say they have an unpaid claim on the earth, for one more life here and the chance to reform and take part in the life of the New Age.
There are over 1200 pages to Alice Bailey's "Treatise on Cosmic Fire" and it's heavy going unless you have a good background of study in Theosophical materials; nevertheless, if you're interested in digging into it, you can get information and prices on this and others of her works from the Lucis Publishing Co., 11 West 42nd St., New York 36, N.Y.
11. Is there a Saucer base in Antarctica, North Pole, South Pole?
Ans: We have no direct evidence that there are Saucer bases at the places you name. Our theory is that once-active cities on what is now the Antarctic continent -- when it was in a warmer region -- are still bases for advanced beings who occupied them prior to the Polar Flip. We suspect that the Russian tractor expedition from the Indian Ocean side of the continent to the South Pole, was an attempt to locate "Rainbow City", as it is called in the Hefferlin Manuscript. If any of the modern polar explorations by any nation, including the United States, have succeeded in piercing the veil of the Antarctic's secrets, the information is still Top Secret.
The north-south flight paths of many Flying Saucer sightings in Australia and New Zealand in 1952 and 1953 led Saucer researchers in that area to set up such a theory, of an Antarctic Saucer base. This theory must have struck too close to the truth, or the researchers wouldn't have been hushed up and scared out as they were.
12. Where did the men in black suits come from? Who blackmailed UFO researchers like Albert Bender, Paul Crisman and Harold Dahl?
Ans: The most obvious answer to the "men in black" stories are the operatives of the military and criminal arms of the Church, the Jesuits and the Mafia. To these must be added the secret service operatives of government agencies of America and Europe. These people also usually wear black or inconspicuous clothing. Any or all of these dedicated human beings could be conscious or unconscious agents for the evil forces from the Moon. Consider Ray Palmer's experience with a government agent after he received Flying Saucer fragments from Dahl and Crisman in 1947. Ray deliberately left some of the fragments clearly labeled in his files. An agent called on him, went through his files, and left. The Saucer fragments were gone with him!
Your choice of the word "blackmail" doesn't seem particularly appropriate. It appears that Crisman himself was a government agent in the Maury Island case, and Dahl was kidnapped by someone. Bender was psychically sensitive enough to be "opened up" and taken directly into the club -- into that small, select group of surface-dwelling [15] humans who know about the secret traffic between the earth and the moon. Evidently it was decided this was the best way to shut him up. The moon spirits decided to appear to Bender as humans in black suits, the inconspicuous and reassuring uniform of their human agents.
THE DEATH OF THE OLD, BEFORE THE BIRTH OF THE NEW!
It is my belief, Joe, that our $20 billion race to the moon will reveal this illegal, secret traffic between the earth and the moon, and when this information becomes common knowledge, certain long-respected institutions here on the earth will collapse like a house of cards. Cracks in the structures are already appearing when gangsters like Joe Valachi, a member of the Mafia, are allowed to testify before a nation-wide TV audience.
13. Is there an outlaw planet in space?
Ans: Yes, and it's only a couple of hundred thousand miles away: the moon! Occult science teaches that the moon is the institution to which most, if not all, rebellious and unregenerate humans are committed. The earth itself, the "red planet", may be an institution to which unregenerate souls from higher planets are committed for a time. It certainly looks like it to me! Fortunately for us, the Father of the system periodically sends a Redeemer to remind us that it is possible to receive an honorable discharge from this place. The way of escape from the earth is the Path of Service, through helping to remove the veil of ignorance which blinds men and women to the Divinity within.
14. Are the beings from Space draining earth of U-235 energy?
Ans: Who knows? It may be that some of the Visitors are eager to get hold of radio-active minerals from the earth, especially if their own home base is burnt out! Even more important to them, probably, are our human creative energies. These can be surreptitiously drained away from us through our vices -- sex, drugs, fear and other negative emotions. So, if you don't want to be vampirised by certain types of Visitors from outer space, Joe, better guard your thinking and your feeling, and keep your body clean and healthy.
Above all, don't spend much time brooding over the glamorous but destructive forces trying to get and hold your attention from the Cavern world or from outer space. Your job right now is to finish your education. Work toward a degree in the professions or science. Prepare yourself to make your contribution to the well-being of the race, of America. Part of your education is the military service. Welcome it; this also is a contribution to the well-being of America. If your interest is space science, be sure to balance it off with an equal amount of time in some active, physical sport! And by all means get a girl friend! She'll help you to keep your mind off the dreamy, unworldly, impractical themes of space travel and space wars, and on the practical, worldly goals of education and a job, and eventually a family. Your major interest for the next few years, Joe, should be the building of a strong, sound physical base. Keep Flying Saucers as a minor but interesting hobby.
