Ruth Drown gets up and introduces a special guest who is sitting with Jorge Resines, she seems impressed by the…
“A.T.O.M. After the Order of Melchizedek (Incorporating)”, W. G. Hooper, London Representative.”
She starts with a very brief talk:
“The Life Force is Body-Electricity”
“True, there is no ordinary electricity in this circuit and none is needed; but bio-electricity or human electro-motive force is! The skeptical subject or patient can be convinced of this by the needle of the 0-500 D.C. Microampere Meter in the circuit between the Footplates and the Specimen Well.”
“When the subject is in circuit, with his bare feet on the Footplates and the Treatment plates on his bare belly, have him rub his hands vigorously together to generate a charge of the lowest form of electricity, static electricity – bio-electricity in this case – which should show as a swerve of the needle all the way across the dial to 500. It won’t hold though; nor is it necessary for successful operation of the equipment for the Life Force is still there. The needle on the meter will gradually return to zero.”
Rossiter W. Raymond and Philip Melanchthon take the podium in rather dry presentations:
“Its champions, among whom were some of the most learned men of the time, explained its operation, as (?) , indeed, they explained nearly all facts of physics and chemistry, on the principle of “sympathy” or “attraction and repulsion” The common phenomenon of gravity and magnetism doubtless suggested this interpretation. Philippe Melanchthon, in his “Discours sur la sympathy”, 15–?…attributed the action of the divining rod to “sympathetic affinity.”

THE DIVINING-ROD.*
By Rossiter W. Raymond, Ph.D., New York City.
The scientific explanation of the divining-rod at this period, like the
scientific explanation of nearly all facts in chemistry and physics, was
‘‘ affinity,” a word under which was concealed a little science together
with a vast amount of ignorance and superstition. Philip Melanchthon
(1497-1560), the friend of Luther, adopted this theory to explain the effects of the divining-rod. We must confess that, in an age when the attraction of the magnet for iron and of electrified amber for light bodies was known, but not understood, there was no necessary absurdity in supposing that similar phenomena might be exhibited by other classes of substances.
And this natural presumption, joined with the inherent credulity of
ignorance and the tendency to generalize upon imperfect data, caused
a very general acceptance of the alleged operations of the divining-rod
as true, and consequently the promulgation of crude quasi-scientific
theories to account for it. On the other hand, it must be remembered that the belief in demoniac agencies was still active and all-pervading, so that when facts could not be scientifically explained, they were at once referred to witchcraft or to the devil directly. So long as, the discussion remained within the field of science, it was con ducted with courage and candor; but when it entered the demoniac domain, the boldest philosopher, unless he were willing to sell his soul to Satan, became dumb. This may explain the attitude of the great Agricola (De Re Metallica, lib. ii.) a keen observer and wise reasoner, who, after saying that the alleged virtues of the divining-rod are subject to much dispute, and stating both sides of the dispute with admirable clearness, demolishes in a few words the supposed analogies of magnetism and electricity, but declares that, if the divining-rod derives any power from spells and incantations, that is a matter neither permissible nor agreeable for him to discuss. He proceeds, moreover, to assert, as the general result of experience in his time, that the professors of the divining-rod, though they sometimes succeed in discovering veins, quite as frequently fail, and have to dig like other people if they wish to find anything.
“Wherefore, he advises the respectable and sober miner to study
the indications of nature, and then dig at once, without further
fooling. In a quaint woodcut which accompanies this passage, a miner is represented in the background as cutting his hazel twig ; while another in the foreground is proceeding with it in due form for the discovery of the mine; and (whether in sarcasm or not, I do not undertake to say) at the very point to which the latter is steering, two of Agricola’s ‘‘good and sober” miners have already found ore by the homely process of digging.
“Paracelsus (1495-1541) condemns in his works, as uncertain, illusory, and unlawful, the use of the rod. His disciples did not uniformly agree with this view. Goclenius, author of Essays on the Virtue of Plants and the Unguent of Arms, believes in the efficacy of the rod, and does not condemn its use. Libavius, author of the Syntagma Arcanorum Chimicorum (died 1616) believed in it from experience, and explains its action by sympathetic affinity. This theory, already announced by Melanchthon, was also held by his son-in-law Peucer, by Porta (Magia Naturalis, 1569, lib. xx., cap. viii.), by Keckermann (1573-1609, Systemata Physica, lib. I., cap. viii.), by the author of one of the discourses published with those of Maiolus, Bishop of Volturara (1614), and by Michael Mayer, the prolific author of alchemistic allegory (Verum inventum, hoc est Munera Germanic, cap. iv.), who, describing the invention of gunpowder in Germany and the use of hazel-charcoal in its original manufacture, mentions the sympathy which hazel-wood has for metals, and _ its consequent employment in the form of the divining-rod.”
Ruth Drown thanks the gentlemen for their thoughtful presentation and she continues on in a timeless way and it’s as if we have all been sitting here for an eternity…I start joking around with this weird robot kid when Gaetan Chevalier starts to get interesting.
Ruth is presenting again. There is an entire narrative about the detector plate and the ideas of ‘‘sympathetic affinity” of Raymond and Melanchthon that I have missed narrating because I am laughing at the under his breath comments the robot kid is making about Agricola’s ‘‘good and sober” miners. (The robot has tons of experience mining off-world and the strange space brew the workers make themselves in spite of all the rules against it)…
“The Detector or Rubbing Plate”
“In getting our reaction the timing must be just right and not too fast, or the electrons will “bunch up”, giving a continuous reaction. When the energy passes through the condenser to the upper plate, its polarity is changed and it meets the flow of electrons being stimulated by finger, with finger stall, and the two short; even as the positive and negative energy in a light bulb come together and short, forming a lite.”
“We build up electrons of atoms in the cell and health ensues. Disease is the lack of, or too many electrons in the atoms of the cells, our instrument normalizes it.”
Gaetan Chevalier glares at me and the robot and takes the podium.
“Ruth Drown and Gaetan Chevalier: Grounding for Cellular Health”
“Ruth Drown’s Homo-Vibra Ray device used silver foot plates and tin electrodes connected to a grounding wire (typically to a water pipe or Earth ground) to link the body to the Earth’s electrical potential. Her core idea was that health depends on balancing electrons in cellular atoms, and disease results from too few or too many electrons. Her grounding setup was meant to facilitate this balance by channeling energy into the body.
“Grounding connects the body to the Earth’s negative charge, allowing electron flow to neutralize positive static charges or reactive oxygen species (ROS).
“Gaetan Chevalier, a biophysicist and leading researcher in earthing, has advanced the science of grounding through his pioneering studies. His 2015 research demonstrated that connecting the body to the Earth’s negative charge reduces body voltage and neutralizes reactive oxygen species (ROS), stabilizing cellular redox states and membrane potentials to support cellular homeostasis. This electron transfer stabilizes redox states and cellular membrane potentials, typically between -40 and -80 millivolts, essential for maintaining ion gradients and enzymatic functions.
“Drown’s grounding method, using silver plates connected to Earth, likely facilitated a similar electron flow, potentially reducing body voltage and counteracting ROS to promote cellular balance, aligning with Chevalier’s findings on grounding’s benefits for cellular health.
“Electrons from the Earth could stabilize cellular ion gradients or enzymatic functions, as oxidative stress disrupts these processes. Drown’s claim about “normalizing electrons” aligns loosely with this, though her terminology is different.
“Inspired by Drown’s use of variable resistors to tune her circuits, a modern innovation could integrate a variable capacitor, adjustable from 10 picofarads to 1 microfarad, into a grounded circuit. In this design, a silver plate contacts the body, connects to the capacitor, and links to Earth ground, mirroring Drown’s setup. The capacitor modulates charge dynamics, smoothing static charge fluctuations and filtering electromagnetic fields (EMFs), such as 60 Hz signals from power lines, which could disrupt cellular membrane potentials. This capacitor-enhanced circuit could refine grounding’s ability to stabilize the body’s electrical environment, supporting cellular homeostasis.
“A capacitor in a circuit stores charge and influences the flow of alternating current (AC) or transient signals, while blocking direct current (DC). In a grounded circuit, the variable capacitor’s effects depend on the type of electrical signals involved
“The variable capacitor could modulate transient charge fluctuations (e.g., from static buildup or EMFs), potentially stabilizing the body’s electrical environment. For example, a higher capacitance might smooth out rapid voltage spikes, maintaining a steady electron supply to cells. This could support cellular homeostasis by reducing oxidative stress or bioelectrical disruptions, complementing grounding’s electron transfer.
“Both Drown’s grounding and a capacitor-grounded circuit aim to leverage Earth’s electrons to stabilize the body’s electrical state, potentially supporting cellular homeostasis.
“Drown’s grounding via foot plates and electrodes aimed to connect to Earth’s energy to balance cellular electrons, aligning with modern grounding’s electron transfer antioxidant effects. Both could support cellular homeostasis by reducing oxidative stress or stabilizing bioelectrical states. “
Dr. Hooper (William George Hooper, F.S.S) takes the podium and I can’t follow along at all very well. He is giving a very technical talk to Jorge, Ruth and Gaetan and is not really interested in our crappy news letter. The robot kid Grox seems to have a decent answer to my side question…
“Here we see a length of wire (N) connected to the power source of alternating current (FCA) and notice that the current is made to travel in the opposite direction, thus neutralizing its self-induction factor; by this small “trick” the late Dr. Hooper was able to generate pure gravitational force introducing a suitable frequency into the wire and nullifying the self-induction; the length of the wire will be detailed afterwards in this text.”
Automated Detecting Devices by Jorge Resines, 1989
Robot Rants:
“Wire Connected to Alternating Current (AC):
“The claim that a wire (N) is connected to a power source of alternating current (FCA) is plausible. Alternating current, as understood since the late 19th century, involves an electric current that periodically reverses direction, commonly used in electrical systems. This part is consistent with basic electronics.
“Current Traveling in Opposite Directions to Neutralize Self-Induction:
Self-induction (or self-inductance) is the property of a coil or wire where a changing current induces an electromotive force (EMF) that opposes the change in current, as described by Faraday’s law and Lenz’s law.
“The paragraph suggests that by making the current travel in “opposite directions,” self-induction is neutralized. This likely refers to a configuration where currents in adjacent wires or sections of a conductor flow in opposite directions, causing their magnetic fields to cancel out. This is a real phenomenon in non-inductive circuits, such as a bifilar coil or a tightly packed wire arrangement where opposing currents reduce the net magnetic field and thus the inductance. For example, in a toroidal coil or a folded wire setup, the magnetic fields from opposing currents can cancel, minimizing self-induction.
“In alternative science and free energy communities, the bifilar coil, particularly Nikola Tesla’s design (patent #512,340), is often discussed as a key component for harnessing unconventional energy sources, frequently in conjunction with Tesla coils. Unlike a standard coil, Tesla’s bifilar coil features two parallel wires wound adjacently with the end of one connected to the beginning of the other, creating a series connection. This configuration is claimed to increase capacitance between windings, significantly reducing self-inductance and enabling greater energy storage—potentially up to 250,000 times that of a standard coil, due to the squared voltage difference between turns (e.g., 50V vs. 0.1V in Tesla’s patent example).
“Proponents in alternative science circles, especially those exploring “free energy” or “over-unity” concepts, suggest that bifilar coils can tap into zero-point energy or radiant energy by operating at resonance, where the coil behaves as a capacitor, minimizing counter-electromotive force (back-EMF) and allowing high-voltage, low-current oscillations. This is believed to create a self-oscillating system that captures ambient or cosmic energy, potentially breaking Lenz’s law, which typically opposes magnetic flux changes in transformers. Some claim the coil’s toroidal magnetic field and dielectric properties, when driven at specific frequencies, facilitate energy extraction from the “ether” or vacuum fluctuations, a concept tied to Tesla’s radiant energy theories and rejected by mainstream physics.
Here we have a chance to explore the strange coincidence of the connection of “gravity” to not just “sympathetic affinity” but some entirely comprehensive take on the aether.
Dr. Hooper seemed intent on talking about Astronomy and the mathematical calculations of honour of the wonderful stability and proof that perhaps it had never received before, the crowning proof of the Law of Gravitation.

Aether and Gravitation, by William George Hooper
“The discovery of Neptune through the mathematical calculations of Le Verrier and Mr. Adams in 1846 was the crowning proof of the Law of Gravitation. Mr. Adams in England had noticed that the planet Uranus was being pulled out of the course by some unknown power, and so set to work to calculate the position of the body which thus influenced the motion of Uranus in its orbit. He located the position of the supposed influencing body strictly by mathematical calculations, and then took his results to the Astronomer Royal. Delay, however, occurred in the search for the supposed new planet, and nothing was done further in the matter for many months. Meanwhile Le Verrier in France, unknown to Mr. Adams, had been making similar calculations with reference to the perturbations of Uranus, and had arrived at similar results.”
“These results were sent to the Berlin astronomers, and the heavens were searched for the supposed new planet. After a time, the planet was discovered in that part of the heavens indicated by Le Verrier, and for a time his name stood out as the sole discoverer. Gradually, however, the claims of Adams were admitted and recognized, and to-day his claims to participate in the honour of the wonderful achievement are generally admitted. Thus the discovery of Neptune gave to the Law of Gravitation a stability and proof that perhaps it had never received before.”
